Every year, on Good Friday, a group of us convene in Liverpool’s Calderstones Park to play cricket.
This tradition dates back to the late 1970s when we were teenagers. Now our own teenage children often join us. We used to play football but, because a lot of us are not as ‘energetic’ as we once were, we now play cricket. It’s commonly referred to as the Good Friday Match and is always great fun.
This years game will be tinged with sadness as it’s the first Good Friday since one of our number passed away. Howie, or ‘H’ as we always called him, will be sorely missed.
