About

Senior Design professional Steven Aspinall graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Central St Martins in 1987 (Pictured above as a fresh faced student in 1984).

He decided to start this blog after wondering what to do with an abundance of graphic ‘bits and pieces,’ collected as a result of his many years as a designer. Things that just didn’t seem to have any other place to go.

Steven’s career has seen him provide creative leadership at the very highest level, particularly in the idea-generation, development, presentation and delivery of conceptual thinking.

At BBC Worldwide he was Head of Creative where he managed and mentored a large team of designers, creatives, copywriters and production staff. Steven was Art Director / Studio Manager at Conker Media, the digital arm of Lime Pictures, where he led a creative team responsible for campaigns and design across TV and digital platforms, and a Creative Director at BBC Broadcast / Red Bee Media specialising in branding and identity for television channels.

Most recently Steven was Head of Design at Formula E where he led the design, development and implementation of the championship’s brand identity, and Design Head (Branding) at Three, where he managed and directed the in-house Design team.

His work has won many industry awards and nominations including BDA, RTS, Promax, New York Festivals, International Monitor, LEAF and BAFTA.

He lives in North London with his wife and two daughters and spends much of his spare time listening to old Frank Sinatra records. This is his personal blog and not directly connected with his day job.

  1. Hi Steve
I’m and old Craihurstonian 1960-66 . Are you any relation to the Aspinalls of Marbrook Road Chidwall?

    1. Hi Mike

      Thanks for the note!

Yes, I am! We moved round the corner to Murrayfield in ’75 – Mum still lives there. You were most likely at Craighurst with my older brother and sister.

      All best,
      Steven

      1. Hi Steve

Yes I remember Phil (Azza) and Norma well. I used to go the Falstaff (sadly no longer there) with Phil when he came home on leave and I met up with Norma and a few others from Gateacre Comp (sadly also no longer there) many years ago through Friends reunited. Hope everyone is well.

        All the best

        Mike
