Last Summer I received another commission from the lovely people at Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. 

The brief was to design a new special edition cover for the Charlie Higson ‘Young Bond’ novel SilverFin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of it’s publication. 

A lot of the action takes place in the Scottish highlands, around a loch which contains a shoal of deadly eels. It put me in mind of some atmospheric 35mm film Images of Coniston Water that I shot in the Lake District last winter. Looking at them again I felt that I could use one of them in some way. 

I also liked the idea of using an illustration of an eel, like something from an old science book. Reflecting the 1930s period that in which the book is set. 

I managed to source a vector of this fantastic vintage engraving of an electric eel which perfectly fitted the bill.
